Les Antiquaires received a perfect scores by Le Monde, it is the official Cognac of the ‘Meilleurs Ouvriers de France’ and the distillery only releases eaux de vies that are 40 years or older, never blended from sealed, never topped single barrels. Each bottle is sealed and trimmed by hand with an elaborately braided brute cord that holds the label in place. Each label is inspired by certificates of authenticity in thick, handmade cards handwritten by a calligrapher.
A dark amber robe.
The nose immediately and unabashedly attests to the cognac's age. Round and fleshy yet not heavy, it slowly rises to voluptuously spread out in the subtle alliance between fleeting violet, unique to the cru, and the scents of ripe fruits. Everything is just right. The maderization grows in fullness, affirming a long stay in a wood of great quality.
The unctuous, open, dazzlingly radiant, almost lavish mouth leaves no empty feeling at the back of the palate. The fruit's great quality stems from the terroir's specific nature.
A monument !
